We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Consulting Medical Secretary to join our team. This role is integral to our medical practice, providing a high level of administrative support to our healthcare professionals.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical secretarial work, with a deep understanding of the healthcare industry, insurance verification, and prior authorizations.

You will be the first point of contact for patients, making your role crucial in maintaining our reputation for excellent patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive administrative support to healthcare professionals, including scheduling appointments, managing patient records, and coordinating medical tests.
  • Act as the first point of contact for patients, handling inquiries in a professional and empathetic manner.
  • Verify insurance coverage and obtain prior authorizations for medical procedures, ensuring all necessary paperwork is completed accurately and on time.
  • Work closely with the primary care and family practice physicians to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and regulations to provide informed assistance to both patients and healthcare professionals.
  • Coordinate with other medical office specialists to ensure efficient and effective practice operations.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality in all interactions, adhering to HIPAA guidelines and practice policies.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a medical secretary role or similar position within a healthcare setting.
  • Proficiency in insurance verification and prior authorization processes.
  • Familiarity with primary care and family practice environments.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to interact effectively with patients, medical professionals, and staff.
  • Strong organizational skills, with an ability to multitask and manage time effectively.
  • Proficiency in medical software systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Completion of a medical secretary or medical office specialist program is preferred.
  • Certification as a Medical Secretary or equivalent is a plus.
  • Must be able to start April 22, 2024, at 8 : 00 a.m.
